It is situated on the north-western edge of the Pfälzer Wald, approx. 10 km west of Kaiserslautern. It is perhaps best known because of the installation of United States military personnel. The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, a U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) post, is often the first stop for American casualties in the Middle East and other close regions.
