This page contains Notgeld banknotes that were issued in 1923 by the Bochumer Verein für Bergbau und Gußstahlfabrikation (Association for Mining and Steel Production in Bochum).

The company Bochumer Verein für Bergbau und Gussstahlfabrikation AG was a steel plant based in Bochum. It was founded in 1854 from the company Gussstahlfabrik Mayer & Kühne. The company was producing wheels and other components for trains and profited from the surge in railway expansion in the late 19th century in Germany.

During World War 2 the Bochumer Verein für Gussstahlfabrikation AG produced war materials and was as such target of bomb raids. After the war the company was rebuilt. In 1966 the company was taken over by the "Friedrich Krupp" steel company in Essen.
