French Occupied Saar WW2
The Saar region (German: Saarland) was detached from Germany again after
World War 2.
Unlike the other German states that were under the control of France the Saar region
was put under French administration and became part of the french currency and customs
legislation. While the regular French currency (Franc) was valid in the Saar there was
also an issues of currency denominated in Mark (Saarmark).
The Saar became part of West Germany again in 1957.
