Occupied Poland - World War 1

During WW1 the polish part of Russia was occupied by German and Austrian forces. The Northern part was under german administration. It was called "Generalgouvernement Warschau". After the declaration of the Polish Kingdom in 1916 the Polnische Landesdarlehnskasse (Polish state treasury) in Warschau (Warsaw) took over the money supply. In 1917 the Russian Rouble was replaced by the Marek, which was fully convertible into the German Mark.
