East Germany (1948 - 1990)
The Mark in East Gemany (GDR) was issued as an answer to the introduction of the Deutsche Mark in West Germany. It ceased to exist on 1. July 1990 -
already before the official reunification of the Eastern and Western parts of Germany.

Provisional money 1948
As a reaction to the monetary reform in West Germany the authorities in East Germany had to replace the old bills
to avoid the invalid money from West Germany to flood the coutry. Bill were marked with a stamp, which showed the
denomination of the bill and the year 1948.
