Date: 2 January 1989 Measures: 13 cm * 6.5 cm Signatures: Pöhl , Schlesinger The front side shows a portrait of Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855). He was a German mathematician, astronomer and physicist with a very wide range of contributions. The water mark repeats the portrait from the frontside of the note. Shows a sailing vessel of the same type as the traditional training ship of the German navy: "Gorch Fock".
