The front side shows the portrait of Sebastian Münster after a painting by Christoph Amberger (1500-1561/62). Sebastian Münster (1489-1552) was a famous hebraist and cosmograph in the 16th century.

Shows an eagle with spread wings - a natural picture of the stylised eagle within the German arms.
